Est. 2020 — Chester, Pennsylvania
"Clothing is the quietest, most honest thing about a person. SEJJ exists to give that honesty something worth saying."
SEJJ was founded in 2020 in Chester, Pennsylvania — not in a loft in Manhattan or a studio in Paris, but in a small workroom on Morton Avenue where the light comes in at the wrong angle and the heating makes a noise that sounds like thinking. That specificity matters. It shaped what we make.
We started with a single coat pattern and a conviction: that the luxury industry had confused complexity for quality, and noise for meaning. We disagreed. We still do.
We source every cloth directly from the mill that made it. Nothing arrives without provenance. We have been to the sheep farms in Scotland, the linen fields in Belgium, the tanneries in Córdoba. Not for marketing. Because it changes what we buy.
Our pattern makers are given weeks, not days. A single coat pattern goes through seven iterations before cutting begins. We do not have a production line. We have a workroom, and it moves at the speed of getting it right.
Every SEJJ garment carries a lifetime repair guarantee. Not a one-year warranty — lifetime. When something wears, we fix it. We mean it as a structural commitment: we will not make things we are unwilling to stand behind indefinitely.
We are based at 1123 Morton Avenue, Chester, PA 19013. The building is not beautiful in the way that photogenic studios are beautiful. It is beautiful in the way that places with a purpose become beautiful — through use, through wear, through the accumulation of decisions made in it.
Chester is a city that has been underestimated for a long time. We find that useful. It keeps us focused on the work and uninterested in the performance of making.
We do not produce seasonal novelty. We do not release 52 drops a year. We do not chase algorithm-friendly aesthetics. SEJJ releases two collections annually — each one built around a single, sustained idea — and nothing more.
We think the word "luxury" has been stretched until it means nothing. To us, luxury means time. Time given to making something correctly. Time given to the customer to wear it in. Time given to the material to age honestly.
Questions about a garment, a repair, a return, a collaboration proposal, or just something you want to say — we read it, and we respond. Usually within 48 hours, always in full sentences.
